Water Drop Chemistry

on December 7, 2012

2nd grade students enjoyed our time in the lab experimenting with a water droplet.   Students put the water droplet on a piece of wax paper.  The class observed how the water drop acts as a lens when put over a newspaper.  Students made their own mazes and moved the water drop over the wax paper with a toothpick.  Students designed their own games and experiments. Our 2nd grade students were surprised how the drop of water changed when you added a drop of soap into the droplet.  The water droplet spread out and became more flattened.  I was impressed with some of the students drawings they shared with the class on the board.  Today we were thinking like scientists.
