Shark Week

on February 8, 2013

3rd graders are preparing for their trip to Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ on Tuesday, February 12.  They have spent the last few weeks working on researching an ocean animal and making a Glog.  Students researched sites on the internet for sea turtles, whales, and sharks.

Today in class we looked closely at the different sharks.  We had a 3D model of a shark that students could build and take apart to learn the anatomy of the shark.  Third graders created a food web of all the ocean animals they have been studying.  Students examined a model of a pregnant dog shark and found the different systems of the internal anatomy.  Students looked at several web pages that included a video of a shark dissecition, two shark quizzes, and a 2D model of the inside and outside of a shark.  Look under 3rd grade links to find these web pages.

We can’t wait for our trip to the Aquarium next Tuesday!
