Westward Ho ! Panning for Gold

4th Grade pioneer families traveled to Ashbridge Park for their Westward Ho adventure.   The exciting event finished a year of American studies for the fourth grade students.  Students came to visit Hombre D at Sutter’s Mill along the creek at Steamboat Streams to pan for gold.  The Westward Ho  events included:

Panning for Gold at Sutter’s Mill

square dancing (hoofing and hollering at South Pass)

fording the Platte River

sewing, washing, and gathering chores at fort Walla-Walla

hunting and gathering at Fort Laramie

Trading Post and journal writing at Fort Boise

lassoing steers at Fort Bridger

master of information with Chief who know it at Chimney Rock

7 pioneer families traveled to each station and finished the day with a picnic lunch along the praire

YEE HAWW !  4th Graders rock
