Hydra Strikes Again

on May 31, 2013

The hydra is a CNIDERIAN which is related to a jellyfish and has stinging cells.  We looked at the hydra under the microscope.  During the introduction, one of my students remembered the hydra from the Percy Jackson books.  A hyrdra is a mythical creature with multiple heads that is part of Greek mythology.   We observed a few daphnea swimming around and waited to see if the Hydra would bite its prey.   3rd graders had a great time in the lab.  Here are some pictures I took using my digital microscope.
