Ready for Echo Hill – Making a Chesapeake Bay Food Web

on October 24, 2013

Our last step in preparation for next week’s 5th grade trip to Echo Hill, fifth grade students constructed a large Chesapeake Bay food web on paper and created a complex food web on the computer using inspiration.  Students found ways to organize each level choosing bright colors and drawing detailed pictures.  In our final assessment, fifth graders showed they could construct their own models of a food web.  We were also working hard and distinguishing between the domino pattern of energy in the system and the cyclic pattern of matter in the ecosystem.   We are ready for a great time in the Bay and Swamp at Echo Hill next week.
