Ready to Plant our Tulip Bulbs!

on October 24, 2013

Fourth graders and fifth graders are participating in the Journey North Tulip Project.  We will be planting perennial bulbs in the next few weeks as the temperatures get colder.  We will plant the bulbs in the fourth grade garden, the fifth grade raised beds, and a variety of places on campus.  Students will be comparing the different microclimates on campus. Some areas have different amounts of light, water, and soil quality.  In class today fourth graders examined the tulip bulb and made sketches of the outside and inside of the bulb.  We looked carefully at the papery “tunic” that surrounded the bulb.   We labeled the important parts of the tulip.  Fourth graders can’t wait to plant!
