Take the Catapult Challenge

on November 8, 2013

5th graders were given a bucket with a dixie cup, spoon, rubber bands, thumbtack, paper clips, tape, and a piece of cardboard.  Each student pair worked together to create a homemade catapult design.  We tested the catapults in the classroom using a cotton ball.  We had some impressive launches in our competition.  Students noted that the most creative designs that were most successful had plenty of tension and took advantage of a good angle for the launch.
