Planting Milkweed for the Monarchs

on May 8, 2014

Second graders found a way to support the spring monarch migration from Mexico by planting milkweed seeds in the classroom.  We hope to grow these seeds inside the classroom the next few weeks until they grow into larger plants.  We would like to plant the milkweed on campus.   Monarch butterflies eat the milkweed and lay their eggs during the migration.   We can’t wait to see the monarch butterflies arrive here in Pennsylvania.
