Solar Oven Design

on May 8, 2014

Third graders were excited to begin the construction of their solar ovens.   Students had to measure and follow directions to make make sure the sun will be reflected by the oven and travel into the box to be  trapped by the two layers of plastic in the windows.  Students made sure to tape all possible holes to make sure heat was not lost in the box.  Students are learning about heat transfer, heat conduction, and heat insulation.  Next class we will make a plan to fill the box with a good material that insulates the heat of the oven.
