Planting Bulbs Before the First Snowflakes

on November 16, 2014

Fourth Graders planted all their perennial bulbs into the ground just before the first snowflakes hit the ground last week.  The students chose 3 different spots on campus to plant the bulbs.  We compared the soil quality, sunlight, water, and temperature found in each garden and made predictions of which garden would bloom first.  Students think the raised beds will bloom first, the bus shed garden will bloom second, and the cafeteria courtyard will bloom last.  We had a great time in the last week digging in all the gardens. We found worms, fallen leaves, and even a salamander while working in the gardens.  Students are participating in the tulip journey north project.
