5th Grade Maker Space in Action

on November 20, 2014

Teachers don’t need to remind students to come to science with their laptops on I days – They know “I” stands for Innovation day! Students bring great energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to class every “I” Day.   Students are working on different projects that involved planning, designing, and building.  The projects have both low and high points to the process which helps the students experience the true work of an engineer.  Each class period, students log their progress on a spread sheet shared on Google Drive.  Some projects include building a catapult, a rubber band race cars, a paper circuit, a Little Bits creation,a  moving magnet trains, a domino maze, a clock timer, an art machine, and an amazing microphone.  Students can’t wait for the next “I” day at Shipley.
