Making H20 Molecular Models

on November 21, 2014

Second Grade students have been learning about water chemistry in the past few weeks in science.  Today the second grade scientists constructed their own water molecules out of toothpicks and styrofoam balls. (a shout out to Mrs. Norquist who sent us the molecule kits from the Upper School)  When I showed one of the classes the complex glucose (sugar) molecule I constructed as a demonstration, one of the boys guessed that it was a “carbohydrate molecule.”  We celebrated the fun class by posing with the carbohydrate molecule as a royal crown.  Students discussed how models can help us understand more about the world around us. Second Grade Scientists Rock ! !
