The Amazing Floating Carrot

on November 23, 2014

Third grade students have been exploring the theme of buoyancy and density in science class.  Students wondered if changing the solution of water would affect whether a carrot would sink or float.

SALT Water made the Carrot FLOAT

FRESH Water made the Carrot SINK

we also looked at an orange in water.

With the SKIN ON it FLOATS

With the SKIN OFF it SINKS
