Wow, Look what happened to the Aquaponic Plants!

on September 25, 2015

Over the summer our plants in the Aquaponic System grew like a wild jungle.  Students at the school summer camp helped to test the water for pH, ammonia, and nitrates. They also fed the talapia fish that swim in the bottom aquarium.   The waste from the fish helps to feed nitrogen to the plants above.  We are growing tomatores, basil, lettuce, and eggplant in our bed.  5th grade students started the year learning how to test the aquarium for pH, nitrates, and ammonia.  This will help the students understand the importance of our work in nearby stream at Asbbridge Park.  We will be testing the stream for pH, nitrogen,  dissolved oxygen, and chloride.  The aquaponics system in the corner of the room catches everyone’s attention as you enter the room this year
